Esteem's state-of-the-art Diode laser system produces a highly-concentrated beam of light which is absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicles. The pigment is then vaporized causing the follicle to break down and the re-growth of hair to stop or be severely diminished. The hair follicles are accelerated through the three phases of hair loss as described below. The phase during which hair
actively growsis called anagen. In the anagen stage, hair contains large amounts of melanin. The catagen stage begins when the lower part of the hair stops growing. In this stage, the follicle is weakened but the hair is not shed. The hair falls out in the telogen phase due to a breakdown in the hair follicle.
